School NurseThe School Nurse must implement comprehensive program of health services for assigned campus(es), provide health services to students, and promote health education and preventive health practices for students. Substitute teachers must also complete a daily report or evaluation to communicate any pertinent information resulting from the day's events.Qualifications:Education/Certification:High School diplomaValid registered nurse or vocational nurse license to practice professional nursing in Texas from the State Board of Nurse Examiners preferredCertified by Texas Department of Health to conduct vision and hearing screening preferredCPR Certification preferredSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of health appraisal to identify student health defectsStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to implement policies and proceduresExperience:Medical experience, preferably in community health or school organizationTraining:Annual substitute training at the start of each school year.Salary / Work Days: Substitute Teacher pay scale; work schedule dependent upon school nurse absences
