Position Summary

The Marina Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and performance of Pleasant Harbor Marina, including marina operations, boat storage, and public launching facilities.

Reporting to the General Manager, this position oversees daily operations, leads staff, manages resources, and ensures a high standard of safety, customer service, and operational efficiency. The Marina Manager plays a critical role in maintaining the marina as a premier destination while supporting the District’s operational and financial objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Performance Management

• Direct and oversee all marina operations, including dock services, dry storage, retail/services, and maintenance functions
• Ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations across all marina activities
• Monitor operational performance and implement improvements to increase efficiency, service quality, and customer satisfaction
• Oversee facility conditions, equipment reliability, and overall marina appearance

Financial & Administrative Oversight

• Manage operations within established budget and financial objectives
• Monitor revenue drivers and operating costs to support financial performance
• Support planning, forecasting, and operational decision-making
• Ensure compliance with District policies, procedures, and reporting requirements

Leadership & Workforce Management

• Directly and indirectly supervise marina staff across multiple functional areas
• Hire, train, develop, and evaluate employees to build a high-performing team
• Establish clear expectations and accountability for performance and service standards
• Coordinate staffing and schedules to meet operational demands
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and safety-focused work environment

Customer Experience & Stakeholder Relations

• Ensure a high level of customer service across all marina operations
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, tenants, and stakeholders
• Address customer concerns and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner
• Promote a positive public image of the marina and the District

Safety, Compliance & Risk Management

• Enforce all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
• Identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks and safety hazards
• Ensure staff adherence to safe work practices, including proper lifting techniques and ergonomic standards
• Support a culture of safety and accountability across all operations

Strategic & Process Improvement

• Evaluate operational processes and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
• Identify opportunities for service enhancements, operational improvements, and innovation
• Support long-term planning and development of marina operations

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or management experience
• Experience in marina operations, hospitality, outdoor recreation, or similar multi-function operations preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong leadership and team development skills
• Demonstrated ability to manage operations, staff, and multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Customer service-oriented mindset
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard business applications

Physical & Work Requirements

• Ability to perform occasional physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and extended periods of standing or walking
• Ability to safely perform work using proper body mechanics and ergonomic practices
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays as needed
• This is a safety-sensitive position. Candidates must successfully pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and may be subject to random testing in accordance with District policy.

Working Conditions

This position operates in a combination of office, outdoor marina, and operational environments. The role may involve exposure to weather conditions, water hazards, and active work areas. The Marina Manager is expected to maintain visibility in operations and ensure adherence to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ergonomic best practices.
